"When I was at Art School I enjoyed life drawing, however I would often avoid the expressions on the faces of the models. In 2001, I was inspired to paint the faces of suffering people. 'Lost child' was a painting from a photograph of a beautiful homeless African child. 'Girl calling' was a painting of a physically abused 18 year old prostitute. 'Despair' and 'Blue face' were done in 2004." Maggie 2010
